The girls tennis team continues its reign at the Colonial Valley Conference, finishing with a 7-1 divisional record and an overall record of 17-4, advancing to another impressive milestone–the NJSIAA Group 4 Central Championship.
Singles standout Alice Nadtochiy (‘26) has been dominant, losing just one match on the year.
“This year is different from others because I’m a senior, so it’s much more meaningful,” Nadtochiy said. “Since I didn’t play for my team sophomore and junior years, it’s nice to be able to compare the two years and tell how much better I’ve gotten.”
This senior-heavy team has grown close since freshman year. “Senior year is so much more emotional,” Nadtochiy added. “I feel really comfortable with the girls and also laugh at old memories from freshman year.”
In doubles, the duo Sana Daway (‘26) and Caris Co (‘26), who are also team captains along with Sita Shah (‘26), have compiled an impressive 15-2 mark.
Co said, “Sana and I played really well since it was our second year as partners. Not a lot of teams have that same chemistry, but we always knew how to support each other’s styles and communicate easily.”
Co, who has played tennis since she was five, says her favorite memories are competing at CVCs each year. “We all wake up super early and even though we’re so tired, we have our blankets and are excited to cheer each other on,” Co said. “I genuinely look forward to each season because we play our best tennis and it’s so rewarding to watch my team succeed.”
Co added, “This year was different because it was the first time our team won State Sectionals and I placed first individually in CVC doubles.”.
Being senior captain for a second year, Co said,“ made this year different because, especially as a senior, I was able to be more than just a teammate but a coach and mentor.”
Assistant Coach Craig Frame credited the team’s leadership for its success. “Our senior captains Caris and Sana set the tone all season,” Coach Frame said. “They were clutch at first doubles and brought great energy to the team. Their leadership really helped create a positive, competitive culture.”
Coach Frame also praised the seniors’ growth. “This group really learned to play with confidence,” he said. “Last year there was a little fear of failure, but this year they trusted their games and went for the wins. They’re a great group of players and even better people, and Coach Kelly and I were so proud of everything they accomplished.”
The team continued their success at their postseason tournaments. They placed 2nd in the CVC tournament, won sectionals and finished 2nd in the state.
