On Friday May 16, the South and North Volleyball teams held an American Cancer Society Volley for Life fundraiser game, where both schools squared off against each other to raise money and awareness for cancer.
“The South boys volleyball team likes to call this annual fundraiser the ‘Super Bowl’,” said Nikhil Koya (‘25). Both volleyball teams joined forces for three consecutive years to help raise a total of over $8,000 for the fundraiser. This year they raised more than $3,076, a significantly higher amount than the previous years.
A big reason for the event’s success was Coach David Colon’s commitment. “Coach was out there during lunch, reminding people, sharing it on Instagram, just making sure everyone knew how important this was,” Koya added. “His energy definitely rubbed off on the team and helped get people in the gym.”
Many in the WW-P community attended the fundraiser. “All of the energy that the crowd brought was very helpful during the game,” said Srivashal More (‘27).
The Varsity South Volleyball Team lost two sets out of the three. Players shook hands, shared laughs, and supported each other throughout the game for a good cause.
