On Sept. 7, 2023, South opened its door for the 50th time.
The next day at 2pm, wearing golden yellow shirts emblazoned with the number 50 in green and white, South Pirates walked to the football field. They filled the bleachers. Some sat and seniors and faculty stood on the track bordering the bleachers. Pirate pride filled the air as a drone captured this important moment in South’s history.
Suchita Chitrapu (‘27) said that wearing golden yellow shirts “showed that everyone was so unified together.”
To prepare for the 50 year celebration, at the end of last year, Principal Jessicca Cincotta put together a committee of staff and central office administrators. The idea for the 50 year anniversary photo came from the committee. Principal Cincotta said, “We were thinking of ways to honor those of us who are here at South now.”
Chitrapu said,“As my first year being here, it’s refreshing. I’m really proud to be part of a school which has had such a rich and long standing legacy.”
