Having a designated “nap time” during our school time will prove more problematic than useful towards our general life. There are better ways to allow more sleeping time for a high school student. One such way would be to assign less work. If students get less work, they will not have to stay up as late if they choose to do something on their own that causes them to stay up late, say playing video games. It is not the school’s responsibility seeing that they gave the student the opportunity to go to bed at a reasonable time. This work load should also take extracurriculars such as clubs and sports into consideration as well, making sure to give at most 3-4 hours of work.
Another solution would be to start school a little later, which would allow us students to wake up later and then go about our day, in essence creating an opportunity for more sleep. Basically, giving students the opportunity to go to bed earlier or wake up later is a much more efficient way to solve the problem of sleep deprivation instead of taking away essential time required for education.

I always struggled to nap because it was difficult for me to wake up again and go to sleep at the proper time. Also, It has always annoyed me how we kept persisting on a later school time due to the research proving it beneficial such as 8:00 or even 8:30, yet none of it changed for the regular school day at all. I understand that parents need to commute the little ones and sports and all but sleep is so vital, especially after the pandemic.
